10TH GRADE EXIBITION
Reflection
The greatest strength of my exhibition project was getting everything organized for the exhibition and getting in everything I need to say to my audience. Preparing myself with facts and information. The thing I would most like to have improved about my exhibition project is would to be calm and have more work set out for the audience to view and maybe a more interactive piece. Share some things you learned through the process of creating your exhibition project I went through designing my magazine and info graphic also communicating with my group and seeing what I needed to get done and if they needed my help with anything. My greatest strength was working with my teammates. Something I can improve on is my speaking ability and to speak louder and take my time with explaining.

CYCLE RESEARCH
Orbital Eccentricity
Eccentricity is a measure of how an orbit devaites from
circular. Pretty much measures the quality of an orbit
thats not circular.
This changes the earths climate because the orbit can make the
suns and earths distance change by causes colder or hotter weather.
The length of this cycle us about 400,000 years with a super imposed 100,00
year cycle.
Perihelion is the point of the orbit of whatever planet us closest to the sun and
Aphelion is the same but farthest from the sun.
The earths eccentricity compared to other planets (mercury) is that mercury
has more eccentricity than earth. Earths eccentricity is 0.0017 and mercury's
is 0.206.

DIGITAL CHEMISTRY LABS
SAVE FRED
Name: Zoe RyanPartners Name: Eli Steria
Save Fred
The purpose was to get Fred the worm to safety by getting him back in his boat and in his lifesaver with only using Fred touchers (paper clips).
Our goal while running this experiment was to get Fred to safety and in the boat.
Why is it important in science to follow an agreed-upon procedure?
So we don't wind up in the hospital or mess with anything we shouldn't mess with.
Why is it important to document your procedure and any errors or differences?
Too keep track of your problems so you know what to do better next time and its helps you as a learner.
Why do we not normally have food in chemistry class?
Because theres been a lot of chemicals on everything in the room and if it gets on your food you can get sick and its just too risky.
Data Table/Calculations/Graphs
Boat Lifesaver Fred 8cm 3 1/2 cm 8cm 266mg7,700mg 7.7Observations: We noticed Fred was really wiggly and kept falling so we needed to use two Fred touchers to hold him.
Conclusion: Fred survived and is not dead.
FLAME TEST
Name: Zoe
Partner: Roger
The purpose for this lab was to see which chemical flames color was and learn why it does what it does.
Procedure:
We had to well mix the chemicals and clean each glass when we were finished with it. This took a lot of teamwork one of us would clean and light the mixture and the other would mix and handle with the methanol.
Pre-Lab Questions:
What color of light is the lowest in energy?
red
What color of light is the highest in energy?
violet
What color of light is the highest frequency?
red or violet
What color of light is the lowest frequency?
red
How are electrons “excited”?
They get excited when they are giving more energy or collides with a close atom
What does it mean when the electrons are “excited”?
when they have more energy
Compound Name Formula Flame Color Observations Control (Methanol) CH4O Blue The chemical was a solid blue I didnt see any other colors during. Borax Na2B4O7 Green/Orange Really pretty green then slowley got orange in and then orange took over Copper Sulfate CuSO4 Blue/GreenStarted blue and faded into some greenMagnesium MgSO4 Blue No other colors just a nice blue Strontium Chloride SrCl2 Red/Blue Blue and then a pop of hot pink/red color very cool and pretty Unknown
Blue/Orange Blue and then orange took over until it went out. Conclusion:The test came out really well. The flames were surprising and really colorful. The process of this lab was pretty simple and I worked well with my partner.
PH TESTING ON CRAYFISH
Partners: Matthew and Jasper
The purpose of this experiment was to see how two crayfish acted in different levels of ph. We had set up a tank with two crayfish and separated them in the tank to see what would happen to each. The procedure for this experiment was to change the water level to more or less acidic and put the ph level up or down, the crayfish ph level is 7 and we would try out level 8 or 6 and see how they reacted.
Days Crayfish A Crayfish B 1 Adapting to tank moving around Staying in the pvc 2 Lots of movement nothing new Shy stayed in tank 3 Same as the other days Came out once 4 In pvc pipe Walking around
I felt there wasn't much movement with the crayfish and the ph levels didn't make a difference they didn't die they just had to same reaction from before. They weren't effect as much as I thought they'd be and they were just how i'm guessing they normally would be.

STUDENTS WITHOUT BORDERS
The project we are currently working on is Students Without Borders. This project is more one the engineering side and its all about helping a certain place one of us choose. For my project I am currently working on is the Poop Groop. For this we are making an adobe brick solar oven and sanitizing poop. The reason for this is so that we can use the poop and make it into fertilizer or even oil. We started by making the adobe and working on a base then make adobe bricks and building it up. We have glass over the top to trap the heat and then put the human excreta in the oven. Poop when heated helps kill off all bad bacteria. The reason for the fertilizer is for in any country that do not have much places to do your business could use this and recycle the poop as a fertilizer for food. I believe this will make an extraordinary impact towards any poor country with no where to use the bathroom and also no fertilizer for food or plants. The third world country my group and I are focusing on is Burkina Faso, Africa a third world country with a extremely high poverty level.
